Research is performed on mechanical, thermal and chemical manufacturing processes and combinations hereof, for forming, joining and surface treatment. The research is based on development, theoretical and experimental analyses and simulation of manufacturing processes, machines, tooling systems and lubricants. The research comprises geometrical metrology as a decision making tool for control of design, production and function of physical products.
Among the core activities focus will be given to modeling of material and process characteristics based on single processes and combinations of processes. Mechanical and thermal processes are analyzed both for metal and polymer processing (casting, metal forming, injection moulding, laser cutting, resistance welding). Furthermore tribology and process metrology are included in the activities.
